Lately Pune has turned into a major happening destination in India for several reasons. Some of the major grounds being booming IT sector, rapid industrialization, increased employment opportunities and a metro lifestyle that attracts. Cities and urban regions compete with other areas and locations in the country for attention, investment, visitors, shoppers, talent, events, and the like.
Globalization is around every now and then. The competition no longer remains within the country but has grown global. Accelerated and intensified globalization has led to a situation where need to conserve certain ethics, values and identity has become crucial and urgent. If not – this global competition will take hold of not only the capital and big cities but would also directly affect the culture of all cities, villages and urban settlements.
Every city has a personality, a face value and some special characteristics. This identity is as good as calling it a brand for that particular city. A city brand is its promise of value, a promise that needs to be kept.
We at Janwani essentially believe that Pune city is in immediate need of such branding – an identity that is defined, the word that is spread across and is conserved with an urge.
How can we brand Pune? Like any person – cities have personalities and they make them stand out from the rest. Certain aspects of every city are very well known to outsiders; and the inhabitants are aware of its strengths as well as weaknesses.
Branding for Pune mainly aims at projecting the identity of the city on a global front. Brand Pune needs to be consistently depicted in its every action and event before natives of the city.
